Mr. Carkhuff is the Small Business Learning Director at DAU. Prior to that, he served as an Acquisition Program Manager in the Air Force Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP), Deputy Director of the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) OSBP and Division Manager/NAVAIR Programs Manager for a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business. He also served as the Air Vehicle System and Production Integrated Program Team Co-Lead at NAVAIR where he was responsible for the production and delivery of domestic and foreign military sales MH-60R helicopters.

Mr. Carkhuff is a retired naval officer and former SH-60B helicopter pilot. He is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, the Naval War College, and the Naval Postgraduate School. He is currently enrolled in an Educational Leadership doctoral program at Liberty University. He is a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps. He is Level III certified in Contracting and Program Management. He is a graduate of Leadership Southern Maryland.
